Major Steve, Into The Darkness
Written: 2010-02-28 07:00:28

Darkness has consumed this ciy...and our hearts.

Well after my escape from the massacre at the NecroTech office I spent the night in an empty motel, I curled up in a corner listening to the moans of those lunatics that apparently did not care much for dying. I was awakened the next day when my radio sqawked to life and I heard the voice of Major Richards. He was ordering all remaining soldiers to regroup at a park which lucky for me was only a five minute walk away.

So I made my way through the empty streets and before I knew it I was at the park, it was a scene of chaos. Frightened and wounded soldiers were stumbling around completly confused about what was happening in this city. The Major was in the middle of this anarchy waving his K-Bar around trying to get the attention of the soldiers. Then out of the sounds of the mob a single gunshot rang out causing everyone to spin around and look at the source.

The Major stood in the middle still holding his smoking pistol in the air and glared at us. "Calm the hell down and listen you miserable sons of bitches before I put you down!" he shouted at us so loud that I could see the veins in his forehead pop out. "Now then I know you are all confused about what is going on here but let me assure you. We will find out what is happening and I will explain how. There is a police station that happens to contain a NecroTech research team slated for evacuation nearby. We will go there and I will personally beat the information out of them." The soldiers started cheering raising their weapons in the air which where a mixture of shotguns, pistols, and assault rifles. "Now lets move out!" The Major put us in a combat formation to shoot anything that looks dead yet is still walking.

We arrived at the police station a couple of hours later and the Major decided to send an advance team to take control of the entrance using any means necessary and prep the area for the arrival of the rest of the company. Of course I was picked for the advance team along with fourteen others, we made for the police station with great haste wanting to feel the safety of being inside even though we had a company of soldiers about a block behind us. I walked up to the entrance which was heavily barricaded and a face peeered at me through a window. A hatch opened up and a man with a revolver motioned us inside. We walked in and were immediatly beset upon by a crowd of civilians.

"Thank god! Soldiers! We are saved!" shouted a woman with tears in her eyes, she leaned against a man and started to sob on his shoulder. The man kissed her on the forehead and reached out to shake my hand.

"We had almost lost hope that the military would rescue us. Seemed that we had been forgotten." said the man. "My name is Jim, I guess you can say im in charge here, my wife and daughter decided to hide out in here figuring it would be safe...too bad we arrived after all the cops were dead." he said with a weary sigh. "Well were are my manners what is your name?" he asked me.

"Steve...Corporal Steve." I stammered.

"Well its great to meet you corporal." said Jim

"Thank god...thought you would never arrive." said a woman in a labcoat. She was around five feet, three inches tall and had long black hair. "We didn't think you had survived, guess I was wrong.Im Doctor Jamee Peterson, Head of Research for NecroTech in Malton." she said.

My instincts kicked in and I pulled out my radio and reported the situation to the Major who told me that troops would be there in five minutes...they were there in less than three. Forty seven men entered the hatch and started to get in formation.

Dr.Jamee looked at us expectantly as eight more scientists came into the lobby. "Well? Were are the trucks?" she asked

The leutinant in charge of the soldiers looked at her coldy and responded. "There are no trucks coming, they were attacked." he said.

Jamee looked a bit taken aback. "No...no trucks? How will we get out? How will we get out of this damn city without transportation?!" she demanded her voice getting shrill.

The leutinant nodded at me and I gave her the same cold stare he did. "We are not leaving this city, and neither are you." I said aiming my pistol between her eyes.
