Sadie steadily gained her paws, dislodging the gravel where she had lain for many weeks, undisturbed. Her black fur coat was ragged and stained with blood - over the many weeks since she had crawled from her owners back yard she had become a very good hunter, killing five people before she was finally brought down by a slug through the skull. There was no trace of that wound now, however. Nor her killer who was assuredly long gone. Her glazed eyes flickered west through the streets as her nose, keen even in death, picked out the scent of someone alive. Her stomach came alight with a hungry growl that was echoed through chipped teeth and blacked gums, roiling past her lips that curled back in a predatory smile. The dog slowly lumbered west as fast as her stiff legs could carry her - still faster than a human but not as fast as she had been in life. She passed empty buildings and blood-stained streets with barely a glance. There where no others of her kind wandering in this suburb, Rolt Hights. This ofcourse, had no meaning to her. Finally she came to the source. A human, slumped down and weak on the steps of some building with a Zombie swaying beside him unresposivly. The barricades that had kept her kind out now, ironically, where to be the humans death. Instantly she sprang forth, crossing the road in a few short bounds and before the man could react, clamped her jaws down on his neck and twisted violently, snarling as blood sprayed and his throat came away in a bloody explosion. She barked hapily, rotting tail wagging as she slowly began to satisfy her hunger for flesh. *** After she had fed she left the two creatures and padded further west, curling up outside of an old factory. It had been a good day, and now as her mind began to fog over with her exurstain, she dimly hoped every day would be so bountiful. |
